The Principles of design arrange the elements of art into a composition. They all work together to create artwork. Starting with movement, balance, unity, variety, rhythm, pattern, scale, proportion, emphasis, and value contrast.
The artist for this week used nontraditional media, which is what makes art so amazing, being able to use anything. Erwin Redl uses LEDs as a form of medium. The "Matrix Paris" was a light installation with red and blue LEDs. Letting the visitors walk into a maze over two floors to view the artwork. John F. Simon Jr. writes digital software to create art. Jeffrey Shaw used a stationary bicycle and created a simulated city to ride through. However, instead of buildings, there are three-dimensional letters forming words and sentences.
One of my favorite digital tools to use is a tablet. As much as I love my IMac and MacBook, I do a lot of my work on my Ipad. All my artwork and animation start on my tablet, then sent over to my computer to do finishing touches or to add onto it. I would be nowhere without my stylus. While I refused to shell out $100+ for appls stylus, I ended up finding one for under $30 that works just as well as Apples.
I've tried just about every free program out there, trying to avoid having to pay for Adobe. However, none feel the same or have the number of resources and tutorials out there. Making the price there worth it. As well as the ability to transfer projects at ease between programs.
This week's museum trip was to The Olympic Museum. I really enjoyed seeing all the photos from around the world that featured different sports, ages, genders, and races. My favorite portion was the Olympic Language, specifically of Paris.
